GOODBYE POLLYANNA - HELLO ASTRO CUPID!!

I woke up this morning saying to myself - hell, you need a change girl! Truth of the matter, by Day 3, I was bored with my 30-Day Challenge. I needed something new...I love Pollyanna. She has helped me through a dark period in my life with the death of my dear dad. She has taught me the importance of looking at the sunny side of life, and then some. I have learned how important it is to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative in life. I continue to give my empty cans to my street friends, and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Pollyanna and me will always be buddies. She's my BFF.

When I told my girls that Pollyanna was taking a long holiday, they were sad. 'But mum, you don't have to end it' they said, suggesting I continue to write the odd blog, which I may do. For example, we are going on a family holiday to Las Vegas in May. I may do a blog from there - it should be a LOTTA fun!!
I think it was all those Valentine cards in the shops yesterday that got my mind travelling in a new and vibrant direction. Since I'm constantly being asked my astrological opinion on relationships, and because I am most passionate about this area of Astrology, this is a perfect fit.

Hope you enjoy the new blog - www.astrocupid.blogspot.ca  which is just evolving as the spirit takes me!

Choo Choo for now!

DAY 3 CHALLENGE - TGIF!

Doesn't Christmas seem like a hundred years ago? and I haven't even taken down the tree yet!! That's how the world feels, as we enter day three of this new mysterious year...Of course, the newspapers were alive-alive-Oh today, with the reasons why most New Year Resolutions don't work, and why people give up on exercise by March. A bit glum. The reason they give up on exercise is that they approach it with the zeal of a convert, and then do themselves an injury (sounds familiar!!). They take time out to heal their hurt muscles, and then...hmm - I'll leave the rest to your imagination...

The secret to exercise, if you're a novice, is to take it very lightly at first - say two days a week. By the time your body has got used to being rattled about, increase the frequency, gradually, to say 5 days a weeks. Start SLOW, ideally doing some exercise you like, i.e. walking. Bring some music along for the journey, or a dog, or a trusty companion. Whatever it takes to get out there! Now's the time.

Today's challenge is all about a balancing act...

At lunch and dinner, dedicate half your plate to veggies, 1/4 to protein and 1/4 to grains, grain products, or starchy vegetables. Sounds feasible.

While waiting for a service job on my car this morning, I opened up a new January 2014 magazine in the waiting room. Naturally, it was full to the brim about gyms, weight loss, etc. etc. I speed read through the pages, and pulled out the following words for your health information:-

WATER - track your daily 6-8 glasses by giving yourself hourly reminders.
(alarm or phone)

WALKING - track your steps - aim for at least 100,000 steps per day.

FAT -  go easy on the meat, cheese and creamy sauces...as if!!

FRUIT/VEGGIES - sneak in the extra bits by blending into drinks, or
adding to soups.

DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST!! - because if you do, you'll make up for it and more, later in the day!!

EAT SMALLER PORTIONS FREQUENTLY to keep your blood sugar levels up, and increase metabolism.

DIVIDE BIG SUPPER into two portions, and allow some time in-between.

DO NOT GO TO BED ON A FULL STOMACH - you will not sleep, and also, your metabolic department slows down after dark!

Something to chew on as we exit Day 3 of 2014 - time's flying!!

30-DAY CHALLENGE...ARE YOU ON?

I don't know about you, but I love challenges with a time frame. You know those '10 days to a new you'... or how about '21 days to a better butt' and 'six week boot camp' etc. etc. Like everybody else, I am impatient to see results...not always a good idea. It ends up kicking me in the face, and laughing all the way to the next idiot who believed them!!

Still, we're supposed to be positive...right? With that in mind I came across a 30-day challenge in the newspaper today. It sounds fun, and best of all easy. So for the next 29 days (day 1 was yesterday!), I shall share it with you, if nothing else - for fun!! But who knows where it may lead to...!!

Day 1 (January 1) Happy New Year - your mission was to reflect on the glories of 2013, and the things that made you grateful. If you are going to keep a journal, as I am doing, it would be interesting to reflect on 2013, and pull out only happy memories.

Today - Thursday 2nd January:

"You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself  any direction you choose"
               - Dr. Seuss

Easy peasy, simple pimple. Just reflect on the above little ditty composed by my very favourite astrological role model - Dr. Seuss. Let his words of wisdom help you decide which direction you choose to follow in 2014.

I am in the office now, and it is quiet, so I shall take this opportunity to re-write my address book. I have a new one which I purchased 2 years ago!! My old address book is falling to pieces, and a lot of folk have since passed on, so I think that would be a good start to the New Year. My new address book also doubles as a Happy Day Planner, with birthdays, anniversaries, and happy illustrations and messages in it, such as "May you know contentment, delight, and your fair share of absolute joy". Nice...

Tune in tomorrow for Friday's challenge...

HELLO NEW WORLD - NEW YEAR - NEW YOU!

Yeps, a whole new year has arrived on our doorstep, spanking clean, and jam packed with possibilities - right? Nobody but God knows what lies ahead for any of us. What we do know for sure is that it's going to be a fun-filled terrific year, if we choose... Sure, difficulties and disappointments are part of life - but with a positive and resilient attitude, you can chew them up, and spit them out. Positivity works - or at least it helps!

We are all off to a fantastic start - you and me, because today is the first time in 19 years that a new moon falls on the exact same day as a new year. Fabulous baby! I dunno about you, but I'm telling you this, so you can make the most of this unique opportunity to wipe the slate of your life completely clean, leave all negative thinking behind, and move forward with gusto! DO NOT let others dim your light, simply because it is shining in their faces. If you face obstacles with courage, resilience, and a positive attitude, you will come out smiling. Believe in the power and goodness of God, and trust me, everything else will fall into place. It always does.

Change is inevitable, but I wasn't expecting Patti, the Millionaire Matchmaker, to change her staff so quickly! I kinda miss the old team - the girl with the pink hair, and the guy with the sticky-up hair and tatts. They were part of the family. She is trying to up her game, but I'm not so sure yet. BIG changes like that take time to sink in...

I had an energetic start to the new year, and could feel the benefits of that new moon in Capricorn. In my birthchart, it falls in the first house of public image and projection. If you know anything about Capricorns - they are practical with a capital 'P'. As a result, I had a strong desire to go through my clothes, make-up, jewellery, etc. I sorted everything out into 3 piles - keepers - gifters - charity. It was therapeutic. I got such terrific deals in the sales, that I've decided to curtail spending for the immediate future, and defer gratification until this time next year again D.V. Will I succeed? Watch this page!! I promise to tell the truth - the whole truth - and nothing but the truth, so help me God!! I just want to see how long I can do this, as I feel I have more than I need, and I want to appreciate what I have, before adding to it. Does that make sense?

If you go to this free web site www.alabe.com. put in your date, place, and time of birth. Download the free birthchart, and look to see which house the new moon in Capricorn falls in for you. There are 12 houses. Capricorn happens to be in my first house, which is why I will focus my energies this year on matters of self-image, appearance, self-projection, etc. That does make sense as I have just completed my second book 'Divine Intervention'. I know I will be busy trying to get an agent/publisher - but try I will, because we all know 'God loves a trier!'

If Capricorn falls in your second house, finances will need to take priority. In the third house, communications with others, the fourth house, changes in your home, renos, etc. in the fifth house, children and creativity, in the sixth house, career and health, in the seventh house, relationships, love, etc. in the eight house, major changes, in the ninth house, travel and higher education, in the tenth house career and status (you'll be working hard!!), in the eleventh house, friendships (making an effort to mingle and network), and finally if the new moon falls in your 12th house, it is time for you to go deep inside, and find your spiritual side. This will be your focus in 2014.

Hope that helps!

Happy New Year to all my 'Polly Pals'.

Love,

Patricia xxx
